I love Chipotle! Their food is so fresh and I love that most of their ingredients are non GMO. (The only non GMO items are the tortillas). The tofu used in the new vegan Sofritas, is no exception. I’ve had tofu plenty of times and I can never bring myself to say that I like it…until now.
The tofu in the sofritas is shredded and braised with chipotle chilies, roasted poblano peppers and a blend of spices. At first glance it looks like ground turkey. Now, tofu can be quite rubbery. But, since this tofu is shredded, it does not have a rubbery texture at all. It’s easy to eat and enjoy in a bowl, burrito, salad or taco. When you add your favorite toppings like fresh salsa or guacamole, sofritas is a perfect protein option.
Sofritas is now available in Phoenix and will be nationwide by the end of 2014!
In addition to Sofritas launching, here are a couple new Chipotle news items for Phoenix:
- On Tuesday, May 6, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Day, Chipotle Mexican Grill will host a special promotion where teachers and school staff who present a valid school ID at the register will receive a buy-one, get-one menu item. Educators will be eligible for a burrito, burrito bowl, salad or order of tacos with the purchase of another menu item. Chipotle often creates programs to help educate people about where food comes, and is happy to recognize educators who are doing their part to help cultivate a better world.
- On Saturday, May 10, any Arizona Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) athlete who wears their jersey to any Arizona Chipotle location will receive a buy-one, get-one free entrée. Chipotle is the “official burrito” of AYSA, and is a big supporter of kids staying active and getting the fuel they need on the soccer field.
