IT’S HERE!! IT’S FINALLY HERE!!!!! My family and I saw the trailer for Disney Pixars Inside Out MONTHS ago and we’ve been anxiously waiting its arrival in theaters. I had the opportunity to take my 9 year old to the advanced screening. We both absolutely adored the movie.
Inside Out takes a look at the inner workings of 11-year-old Riley Anderson’s (Kaitlyn Dias) mind. This movie was wonderfully thought out and put together amazingly. We see how all our emotions, Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Kewis Black), Fear (Bill Hader) and Disgust (Mindy Kaling), play important roles in who we are as people. This movie brought out all of our emotion as well, we were laughing and crying.
Disney Pixar definitely thought out of the box with this film and they hit it out of the park. It’s rare that the “main character” isn’t actually the main character but instead she is where everything takes place and her mind makes a fun and adventurous setting! They give us a deep look into a persons mind as we see what happens when we sleep, how we form our personalities (Islands of personality) and even what happens to memories as they become long term, short term and what happens to them as we forget them. As a mom of young girls (ages 7 & 9) I know I will be hit with scattered emotions and mood changes in the very near future, I can honestly say this movie will most likely help me cope with it. They did a fantastic job showing us that sometimes we can’t control our emotions…they control us. GREAT JOB Disney Pixar!!! I will be seeing this again in theaters and I have every intention to be first in line to buy it on DVD when it hits stores!!!
Side note: My 9 year old daughter has informed me that I MUST dye my hair blue and get a green dress and be Joy for halloween….I may actually humor her…but only if someone dresses up as Bing Bong (He’s my favorite!)
