This year we ventured to U.P. of Michigan to visit my husbands family. We flew out of Phoenix Sky Harbor and made our way to Detroit and then Traverse City. After those two flight we had a 2.5 hour car ride to reach our final destination. Talk about a long day!
We hate to bug anyone to drop us off at the airport, so we drive our own vehicle and park at The Parking Spot 2. It’s located just a few minutes from the airport on 40th Street and Van Buren. I love that you can choose between covered or uncovered parking plus they will even wash your car, for an extra fee. How cool is that?
Now, our journey home was a teensy bit stressful. We were heading home when the Polar Vortex hit and messed up all of our flights. We ended up spending the night in Detroit and coming home a day later via Minneapolis. This was no easy feat. When we landed in Minneapolis, all four of us ran across the airport with me sprinting the last 200 yards before they closed the plane doors. Oh, and the excitement does not end there. When we arrived in Phoenix we waited at baggage claim for our bags for a good 45 minutes. Everyone on the flight was waiting because one of the doors was broken and they could not get it open. But wait, there is more! We finally heard our names over the loud speaker and headed to the baggage claim office. Guess what? Our bags were still in Minneapolis, I kid you not!
This may not seem like a big deal since were heading to our home. Sure, we had clothes and shoes at home to wear the next day but my blow dryer and all of makeup were in my bag.
When the Parking Spot shuttle arrived at the curb and dropped us off at our vehicle I turned to my husband and said, “at least they kept our car safe for us.” And, I truly meant it. With all of the craziness dealing with the airlines, I was so relieved that at least the final part of our journey was stress free.
I would highly recommend using The Parking Spot next time you travel. You can find over 32 locations near airports across the U.S.
Disclosure: I was given a week of free parking at the Parking Spot in exchange for my honest opinion about their service.
