Doughbird, Sam Fox’s new aviation-themed restaurant, aims to please foodies of all ages. With its navy blue and white uniformed staff to the canopied roofline that makes you feel like you are dining in an airplane hangar, this new concept is sure to take off with the Arcadia crowd.
Doughbird offers a simple menu with surprising, and sometimes complex, combinations. With two family favorites, pizzas and rotisserie, there is something on the menu for everyone. Unique pizza selections like Bacon and Truffled Eggs, Asian Chicken, and Barbeque Beef sound interesting and I hope to try them, however, since my husband likes the basics we opted to try the Pepperoni & Burrata, which was delicious.
We also ordered the rotisserie chicken, which was cooked to perfection – not too dry and just the right amount of seasonings. They also offer prime rib, fresh fish and a cauliflower veggie rotisserie option. What makes the rotisseries different are the dipping sauces on the side. Since we like it spicy we tried the Jamaican Jerk Marmalade. It was just the right amount of hot and sweet.
As a side, we selected the Cauliflower Mash. I know it’s the latest trend and a bit boring, but it is a healthy alternative to mashed potatoes. I can’t wait to go back to try some of their other sides like the Quinoa Tabbouleh and Macaroni & Cheese!
Since I carry on the tradition of making a heavenly One Crust Peach Pie based on my great- grandmother’s recipe, I am probably a bit biased, but Doughbird’s Old Fashioned Peach Streusel Pie with Vanilla Gelato was a solid second to my family’s recipe.
All of the signature cocktails looked intriguing, but since we can’t try them all, we ordered The Local with strawberries, grapefruit vodka and lemon, and the Gin & Tonic featuring Montenegro, mint and lime. Both were refreshing.
As with all of Fox Restaurant Concepts’, I am fairly certain Doughbird will soon be a local family favorite for dining in or ordering out. Take out starts April 10. For more info. visit www.foxrc.com/nso/doughbird/
