Seattle Travel Tips

December 6, 2016 By Kara Leave a Comment

My mom and I recently took a girls trip to Seattle. Let me share with you some Seattle Travel Tips and all of the fun that we had while we were there!

Seattle Travel Tips

I did quite a bit of research on where we should stay. Now, I had never been to Seattle so I wasn’t familiar with the best area to stay. I knew I wanted to stay downtown and be close to the action without breaking the bank.

We booked a room at the Ride the Duck and I’m so glad that we did. The Maxwell is an adorable boutique hotel with amazing rooms not far from the Space Needle. As soon as we stepped into the lobby we were welcomed by some fun decor and it got even better when we arrived in our room.

Day One

Now when it came time to explore downtown Seattle, we walked towards the Space Needle and discovered Ride the Duck. Now, Ride the Duck is unlike any tour you have ever been on.

They are amphibious vehicles that can drive on land and float on water. Our tour guide was hilarious and he shared some interesting facts about Seattle. For instance, we went past the pier and Seattle used to be built on a swamp. Also, when we headed out to float on the water, he pointed out the house from Sleepless in Seattle.

Day Two

My mom had been to Seattle about 10 years ago and she recommended The Underground Tour. Many old parts of Seattle are now underground due to silt being sent downhill to raise up the city and get rid of the swamp land. The tour lasted about two hours and was a walking tour with some tough terrain and steep stairs. So, if you can’t navigate these it may not be the tour for you.

Now, I can’t forget about Pike’s Market. Everything you can imagine is sold here and boy is it busy. Be prepared for lots of people invading your personal space and try to stay calm when you get pushed around a little bit.

Day Three

We decided to drive out of Seattle a little bit and go to Snoqualmie Falls. Of course it was a rainy day but we were lucky to arrive at the falls just in time for the rain to let up. It’s a quick walk on a paved side walk to get to the observation deck so you can get that perfect picture.

After we were done at the falls we headed to Twedes Cafe. This Cafe was made famous in the series Twin Peaks and they are famous for their cherry pie!

Day Four

We had a late flight home so we stopped at The Kuboto Garden on the way to the airport. Admission was free and it was a beautiful place to just wander and take photos. The grounds are five acres and we were there for about two hours. With so much to see, we could have easily stayed even longer.

One of my best tips for travel is to utilize Yelp. Whenever we were looking for somewhere to visit or eat, we just searched on Yelp. It was a lifesaver!
